Manage client video feedback directly in DaVinci Resolve

Video editors spend most of their working day in DaVinci Resolve. Switching to a browser to check client feedback, noting the timestamps, switching back to the timeline, and scrubbing to the right position — it adds up. Over the course of a project with multiple review rounds, that friction becomes significant.

The Exportlab DaVinci Resolve plugin eliminates that loop. Client feedback from Exportlab's video review tool appears directly inside Resolve as a panel. You can jump to any feedback timestamp with a click, import comments as timeline markers, upload new versions, and mark feedback as resolved — all without leaving the editor.

What the plugin does

View feedback in context

Your Exportlab projects and their client feedback are listed directly in the plugin panel inside Resolve. Each comment shows the reviewer's name, the note, and the exact timestamp where the comment was left.

Jump to any feedback position

Click a timestamp in the panel and Resolve jumps the playhead to that exact position on the timeline. No scrubbing, no manual timecode entry.

Import feedback as timeline markers

With one action, all client comments are imported as timeline markers. Markers are color-coded blue for easy identification. This gives you a visual map of every piece of feedback directly on the timeline.

Mark feedback as resolved

As you work through the comments, mark each one as resolved in the panel. This keeps the feedback list clean and makes it easy to track what has been addressed and what is still open.

Upload new video versions

When you are ready to send a new version for review, you can render and upload directly from the plugin. The new version appears in Exportlab and the client can review it with the same timestamped comment tool.

Download EDL

For more advanced marker management, the plugin supports EDL export, giving you flexibility in how you work with feedback inside your editing workflow.

System requirements

  • DaVinci Resolve 17 or later — both the free version and Resolve Studio are supported
  • macOS or Windows
  • An Exportlab workspace with an API key

---

How to install the plugin

Step 1 — Generate an API key

In Exportlab, go to Settings → Integrations → API Keys and generate a new key. Save it — it is shown only once.

You will also need your workspace slug. If your Exportlab workspace is at mystudio.exportlab.io, your slug is mystudio.

Step 2 — Download the plugin

Download the Exportlab DaVinci Resolve Plugin

macOS: Run the .pkg installer and follow the prompts.

Windows: Copy the plugin folder to the DaVinci Resolve workflow integrations directory manually.

Step 3 — Open the plugin in Resolve

In DaVinci Resolve, go to Workspace → Workflow Integrations → Exportlab. The panel will open on the right side of the interface.

Step 4 — Enter your credentials

Enter your Tenant Slug and API Key in the plugin panel. The panel will connect to your Exportlab workspace and load your projects.

A note on timeline markers

For markers to land at the correct position, your DaVinci Resolve timeline must start at timecode 00:00:00:00. If your timeline starts at a different timecode (for example 01:00:00:00 as is common in broadcast workflows), markers will be offset. Check your timeline settings before importing feedback as markers.

Practical examples

Single editor, multiple review rounds

An editor receives a first cut back with 12 client comments. They open the Exportlab panel in Resolve, import all comments as markers, and work through them one by one — clicking each marker to jump directly to that position. When each fix is done, they mark it resolved in the panel. When all comments are addressed, they render and upload the next version without leaving Resolve.

Studio with multiple projects

A post-production studio with several active projects uses the plugin to stay on top of client feedback across all jobs. Each project is listed in the panel. When a notification arrives (via Slack or Teams) that new feedback has been submitted, the editor switches to that project in the panel, reviews the comments, and starts the revision — all within Resolve.

Get started

The Exportlab DaVinci Resolve plugin is built for editors who want to keep their tools consolidated. Client feedback, timeline markers, and version uploads are part of the editing process — they belong inside the editor, not in a separate browser window.
